2002 Jan. 21.53 UT: m1=9.9:, Dia.=1.5', DC=3... 20-cm L... Alan Hale (Cloudcroft, New Mexico) [low altitude, twilight. I was able to follow the comet for about ten minutes before losing it in the brightening sky. I was aided enormously by a pair of ~9th-magnitude stars a couple of ar-cminutes away that guided me directly to the comet.] 
2002 Jan. 08.67 UT: m1=[-1.5, Dia.=-, DC=-... shielded 20x80 B... J. Bortle (Stormville, NY) [Comet not detected in daylight in an excellent sky. Elong. 2.1 degrees from the Sun. At the same time Venus, elong. 1.6 degrees mag. -3.9 is a brilliant, obvious object in the same instrument. In the past I have also observed objects fainter than mag. -1.0 at even smaller elongations.]
